The Weekend Buzz
It was quite the couple of days around the Blocksma House, and we have the full bellies to prove it. Liz and i both had business in Denver on Friday, (which was kinda odd, but incredibly convenient) so we surried southward in the morning and met with a cavalcade of old college friends for dinner. Tracey and Kurt Massey were in town from Seattle, and the newly minted Bishops were in town to begin moving into their Westminster house, and the also newly minted Andersons joined us as well. I am really quite spoiled to be near so many old Spartans that have found their way to the greater Denver area. Or, not so spoiled, if any new friends meet them and are told inappropriate college tales of me with a lampshade on my head.*Saturday, post some ill-timed data analysis for work, the low 70 degree weather and sunshine enticed us outside and up to the top of Horsetooth Mountain in the afternoon. Liz and i have not actually hiked this together, and since liz went up last year and didn't quite scramble to the top, we gave it a go. It was a utterly pleasant 3 hour 5 mile hike, and gave us a few nice reminders why we like our little foothill town. (more pics here)
The big news, though, had to be Sunday afternoon, which can only be surmised by the following statistic:
59 1ST HALF POINTS.

Seriously. This game was like an oasis for my tortured soul, after forcing myself to watch the drubbing this past week at Wisconsin. We absolutely dominated the Hoosiers today in every imaginable category, and brought the balance of our household back to an even keel at the same
time. I'm still incredibly nervous about this team, and only wish they could play at this level every game - a level they are completely capable of and if they can find this game in two weeks, I'll be blogging about another Final Four berth.
And then we ended the weekend with a big dinner to send off Joanna and Ian from our small group, who are leaving this week for Latvia. We decided to cook the turkey we bought just after Thanksgiving (you know, when turkeys all of the sudden go on clearance) and pull out the cloth napkins and everything. Fancy-Like. Much comestibles was consumed by all, and it was agreed upon that Turkey is tasty year round. A couple shots can be found here.

Sounds like a good weekend.
Hopefully the Spartans will find some consistency before the Big Dance begins.
truth be told, they couldn't pick a much better time to get hot. I just hope that it sticks...
Kalin Lucas could become the best PG in MSU history. in the words of Gus Johnson "ATHLETE!"
Doug,
we were there! didn't you see us waving at you?????
Was a game to remember. Now lets hope the team remembers how to play that way thru the rest of the dance! Final 4 baby
Kris
The food was indeed delicious. At least you only had a weekend of eating we had a week of it and staying in a hotel here in Latvia means even more stuffing and that is not the sort you put in the turkey. Thanks for the great send off
It was absolutely our pleasure, Jo. :)
