Comic of the week: Why I won't be seeing Shrek 3

But firstly, Congratulations to the youngest Blocksma in our immediate clan: Jon (lower right hand corner) gradu-ma-tated from Thornapple Kellogg High School last night, and I'm sure he is currently bereft with the loss that he won't be waking up every morning and reporting to the social psyschology experiment that is High School any longer, but i hope he finds the strength to carry on. Congrats little brother!

I've found myself in casual conversation a few times in the last few weeks regarding the new Shrek movie, and oddly am usually in the minority in being on the negative side of the chat. I don't want to see this movie, I didn't like the second one, and I'm really quite ready for Mike Meyers to write a script for a film that doesn't involve animation or 30 pounds of makeup.. but, i think my longing for the days of So I Married an Axe Murderer are probably for naught, even though it is one of the funniest movies ever made. (Please push play below for what I'm referring to. It's a virutal planetoid!)

Also, because i simply can't help myself, i have to point out one of the Dinosaur comics this week, if only because if a Superman and Batman reference can't get you some link space on my blog, then Dear God, what can?

Lizzle and I are headed down into the mountains for a few days this weekend to get some camping, climbing, and good old fashioned non-bathing done in celebration of the Memorial Day holiday with the cousins and some other folks. I'm sure that there will be plenty of pictures taken and I'll do my best to not break any important bones.
