The Davinci Code

Dan Brown's screenplay, er, novel comes out in the theatres today, and uh, well, who cares.

I've seen sermons and placards all over the place about 'breaking the code', and to be honest i would much rather engage in a conversation on how such a poorly written book can honestly sell so well,
heresey or not.

*chuckle.

***Edit: Apparently, according to Slate the movie isn't very good at all, but i enjoyed their speculation of the answer to my already mentioned question:

"My best guess is that the book's success has to do with its timing: Beset by faceless enemies and engaged in endless wars, perhaps we need the comforting certainty of the occult."

we just got back from the flick. much disappointment. i hate to say it but it was much better as a book. i've never seen a full theater quite as apathetic about a movie as the one i was in tonight.

i just wish the "controversy" if you can call it that would go away so i can just enjoy the book for what it was, a somewhat decent page turner by a hack author. it's kind of like enjoying old B movies. the qualityh sucks but something about it kept me interested enough to keep turning the pages.

i couldn't agree more. I don't think i'm going to bother, so, .. meh. less money for a thoroughly lukewarm author.

*much laughter* I agree! It's only the smart ones that actually enjoy the book for what it's worth.
