Things worth doing in a new decade
So, how many times have you incorrectly written the new year when having to write down the new date? In the past two weeks I was lucky enough to sit through a two-week, 3 credit course that forced me to write my name and date a couple times a day, so this year I have been weaned from the previous decade with relative ease. But rather than blog about classwork, we actually went outside our house for the first time in (seemingly) months this weekend, and also even remembered to bring a camera. Shocking, I know.
We took advantage 0f the mid-50's temps on Saturday to do some climbing on Golden's North Table Mountain with some friends (including Sean, Kate & Mark and Jess & David) and attempted to do our best impression of rock climbers for an afternoon. Considering that we haven't roped up since Labor Day (It's even sadder when I write it out loud) we climbed fairly well, and I even managed to get a pair of leads in without killing myself. This is unequivocally a victory. Some shots from the afternoon are over here.

We spent the weekend in Denver with the Bishops, saw the Courtneys, and had lunch the next day with some long lost friends currently in the mountain timezone from NY for some skiing. It was a very nice pair of days filled with old friends and good food. The following day, though, we decided to chase the lower temps up by Cameron Pass with some other FoCo friends to celebrate Martin Luther King Day.
Leaving the Pass trailhead and walking down to the Montgomery Pass trailhead, we ended up at Zimmerman lake for lunch and a photo op:

Of course, 25' into the hike, I was reminded of why I still stink at snow-shoeing:

The full set of shots from the day are over here. Otherwise the day was a nice reminder that we are spoiled brats and truly enjoy living in the thin air of Coloroo!
