Why i am a hypocrite
Well, there are probably a number of reasons i could list here to prove the theorem in the subject line.. that i'm now ordained though never actually taken a bible class, i like to rock climb and drive a subaru like a coloradoan but i'm really a michigander, and, oh yeah, i hate television, but, we now have a satellite dish.
And the thing to drive me all the way to the publish post button was the sadness i felt just a few moments ago, when i turned on that tv and perused through the channel guide and I made the mistake of actually looking at what was on. Dancing with the stars, biggest loser, the unit, some terrible reality show on ESPN about people playing video games in a Winnebago (like road rules! wow!) ... all of which making up this terrible confluence of Tuesday night programming that makes me want to turn this new dish into a charcoal grill.. that is, until i saw my saving grace staring at me from channel 78:

Bubba Ho-Tep. It's a movie about Elvis (played by Bruce Campbell) fighting a mummy/zombie thing that is eating the souls of the retirement castle that he is still alive in. As i click the button to switch the channel, i check in to the part in the movie where Elvis points his electric wheelchair at the zombie, they tumble down a hill, and then Bubba gets set on fire.

Movie? Awesome. Evening? Saved.

I officially love bruce campbell. his book "if chins could kill" is awesome.
He's been my favorite part of all of the Spiderman movies, no doubt.
Your favorite part of the spiderman movies? Oh.... so young.
So, here's your problem! Doug, we talked about this. You have a DVR now. You are NOT A LIVE TV PERSON. Live TV sucks. Don't watch it!
What you do is put in programs for all of your fav stuff (I recommend filling your DVR with Simpsons, Mythbusters, Daily Show/Colbert Report, Scrubs, Psych, Good Eats, CSI, Heros, Bones, Numb3rs, Burn Notice, Eureka, and anything with the word "Rockclimbing" in the description) and then turn off the TV for a few days. When you come back, you'll be watching good TV, and the DVR will be diligently picking up new shows as you try to catch up, and you'll never have to spend time browsing the crap that is on most of the time.
WE ARE NOT LIVE TV PEOPLE!
yeah yeah yea, after the part of this story i did actually turn on the south park episode i hadn't seen yet on the dvr - but it's hard to remember that that is even an option!
Also, don't you 'pshaw my citation of the spiderman movies. They are wonderful pieces of cinema - especially when Bruce Campbell is on screen.
I can't for the life of me recall Bruce Campbell's character in Spiderman. When you say Bruce Campbell, I say Evil Dead I, II and III (Army of Darkness)
THIS IS MY BOOMSTICK!
Give me some sugar baby!
If you want to see Mr. Campbell in a current show that is far better than his stint on Zena and Hercules, try Burn Notice.
I love Bruce Campbell, Bubba Ho-tep, and I really dig Don Coscarelli as a writer/director especially the Phantasm movies.
And Question: You are ordained?
Mark - Bruce has a cameo in each of the spidermans due to his rapport with Mr. Sam Raimi, (of Evil Dead) In one of them (the second, i think) he is the attending guy at the theatre that doesn't let peter in to see MJ's play, and in the third (and my favorite role) he is the maitre D at the restaurant where peter attempts to propose. Hilarity ensues.
Wayne - yes, i am, but only for the sake of a friend who asked me to do his wedding, and only through the Universal Life Church. Though, i do make everyone call me 'reverend', now, though.....
I knew Bruce Campbell looked familiar then I remember from where.
BRISCO COUNTY JR!!!
Any movie that has Bruce Campbell in it is automatically amazing, especially when he's the star. I just watched Army of Darkness again (This makes 1,247 viewings, I think. My VHS tape is starting to wear thin), and it just never gets old.
